Church Halls and Community Centres: Cleaning Shared Spaces

✍️ Max Products Team⏱ 3 min read

Church halls, community centres and club rooms are used by many different groups, often run by volunteers. That makes cleaning tricky: everyone assumes someone else is doing it. A simple, shared routine keeps these spaces welcoming for everyone.

Agree on the basics

After each event

  1. Collect rubbish into strong refuse bags and take them to the outside bins.
  2. Wipe tables and kitchen counters.
  3. Stack chairs neatly so the floor is clear.
  4. Sweep the floor with a wide soft platform broom. It covers a big hall quickly.
  5. Check the washrooms and kitchen and report anything that has run out.

The weekly deep clean

Looking after vinyl floors

Many halls have vinyl or sealed floors that take a lot of traffic. After cleaning, a floor dressing such as Floor Brite restores shine and helps protect the surface, so dirt is easier to remove next time. Apply thin, even coats to a clean, dry floor as directed on the label, and keep people off it until it's dry.

Keep a well-stocked cupboard

Volunteers can't clean without supplies. Keep a lockable cupboard with refuse bags, cleaners, cloths, a broom, mop and bucket, and a list on the door of who to tell when something is running low.
