Easter weekend often means a full house of family and friends. You don't need to deep-clean everything before they arrive. Guests notice a few key things, so focus on those and save the rest for later.
1. The entrance
First impressions start at the door. Sweep the front step, shake out the doormat, wipe the front door and clear clutter from the entrance area.
2. The guest bathroom: top priority
- Clean the toilet thoroughly with a Toilet Bowl Cleaner, including under the rim, the seat and the base.
- Wipe the basin, taps and mirror until they shine.
- Put out a clean hand towel, a full soap dispenser and plenty of toilet paper.
- Empty the bin and mop the floor.
3. The kitchen
- Clear and wipe the counters with a multi-surface cleaner such as Mr Max.
- Make space in the fridge for food and drinks.
- Empty the dishwasher so it's ready, and take out the rubbish.
4. Living and dining areas
- Do a quick declutter: put everything that doesn't belong into a basket to sort later.
- Wipe the dining table and dust the surfaces people will see.
- Vacuum or sweep the main floor areas.
5. Guest bedroom
Fresh sheets, a clean towel per guest and a clear space for their bags are all most guests need.
6. Fresh air
Open windows for a while, then use a light air freshener in the bathroom and entrance once everything is clean.
After the weekend
Strip guest beds, wash towels and do a proper clean of the kitchen. The deeper jobs can wait until everyone has left.
