Both have their place:
- Soap and water is best when hands are visibly dirty or greasy, after using the toilet, and before handling food.
- Hand sanitiser is perfect on the go: at reception desks, entrances, in vehicles and in meeting rooms where there's no basin nearby.
The 20-second rule
Wet, lather and scrub for at least 20 seconds (about two rounds of "Happy Birthday"). Don't forget thumbs, between fingers and under nails. Rinse and dry thoroughly, because damp hands spread germs more easily.
Make it easy: placement is everything
